A favourite among families and freeskiers alike, the Remarkables Ski Field has it all – great snow, due to it’s altitude 1943m, fun groomed pistes, easily accessible off-piste skiing and world class terrain parks including the Burton Stash Park.

The Remarkables has a large beginner area with covered magic carpet lifts and wide, spacious, gentle slopes. This is a great field for progression from beginner to intermediate ski slopes, helping beginners to build confidence and practice their skills while exploring more of the mountain.

Terrain Park

The Burton Stash Park is jam packed with natural features using elements from the Remarkables environment, wooden rails and a rock hut among the line up. The Stash Park was designed by the legend that is Jake Burton and snowboarder Craig Kelly. The Remarkables also provide jumps, rails and features for beginners, intermediates and advanced skiers and snowboarders. For the best view of Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu don’t miss a short walk up from the Shadow lift to the weather station. Absolutely breathtaking!

Terrain

The off –piste terrain at the Remarkables ski field is extensive and another draw card. From the top of the Shadow Basin lift you can ski straight onto the Homeward Bound and Outward Bound fields, which are 100% off-piste with heaps of natural features and a shuttle bus to collect you from the bottom and drop you back to the base building. Ski runs in the Homeward Bound and Outward bound ski areas vary in length between 1.5-2km depending on where you drop in.

If you’re prepared to take off your skis or snowboard and go for a short hike then there are plenty more easily accessible runs, chutes, drops and ridgelines to explore all within the ski boundary. The chutes above Lake Alta and the toilet bowl are two runs not to be missed, just make sure you get there early on a powder day!

The base building at the Remarkables is just a few years old and it’s great space to relax and warm up between runs. Also available are ski and snowboard rentals, a workshop if you need wax or repairs for your equipment, a shop for any last minute essentials and guest services for your lift pass and ski lessons.

The Remarkables ski field is 45 minutes drive from central Queenstown. The ski field road winds itself around the face of the remarkables so there’re some amazing views on the way up. However, for the best view of Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu don’t miss a short walk up from the Shadow lift to the weather station. Absolutely breathtaking!
